Teachers are responsible for establishing and managing student learning in a positive learning environment.

This is my classroom at an elementary school. The students have space to work in, plenty of light, ample writing surfaces and lots of visual stimulation.
I create comfortable spaces for my students to learn in. They are pleasant refuges where students can come and know that I and the other ESOL teachers will lend a sympathetic ear, calming them down if their language difficulties get too overwhelming. This is also my role as an ESOL teacher.

Here is an example of one of the Essential Question posters that I put up in my rooms, this one for beginning high school students. Each unit has essential questions that guide the instruction at each proficiency level.
If the room is used by more than one grade, I divide the room into sections so each grade knows where its essential questions poster is. We refer to them almost every lesson.
