I am returning to education after a long career in another field.

I spent over 20 years in the field of Television -Film - Broadcast management. I was a logistics and operations specialist for news, entertainment and sports programs. I coordinated satellite feeds, locations and crews, and was responsible for content in educational programs. It was a fast-paced and interesting field.

Events in the fall of 2001 changed my focus.

I was in a position to change the direction in which to move my life. A long-ago stint teaching English to diplomats and students, and my lifelong desire to continue my graduate studies in applied linguistics, prompted me to enter my currrent graduate program at the George Washington University.

When I am finished, I will have earned a Master's degree in Education with licensure in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL) for grades K-12. I will be licensed to teach in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.

I have found that working with children who need help communicating in English fulfills my desire to make a difference. The smiles on their faces when they see that I can help them tell me that I was right to take this path.

I hope to continue my graduate studies in linguistics, to make a contribution to that field.
