Teachers are committed to students and their learning.
Each day I post the day's objectives and agenda so that the students know what we plan to accomplish by the end of class. I include the purpose of the lesson, the warmup, the list of tasks to do and what the homework will be.
At the beginning of the semester I put the expectations for classroom behavior on the board and go over them regularly. They include, "We will look at and listen to the teacher when she is talking," and "We will keep our hands and feet to ourselves."
I don't hesitate to add rules if needed, but I have found that these very basic rules work are a good starting point for the younger grades.
